Genomic Sequencing of Marine Bacterial Isolates

The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation is funding a large scale project to sequence approximately 155 genomes from a variety of marine bacterial isolates and large-insert clones collected by numerous researchers.

Our laboratory has submitted 23 isolates for sequencing. It is hypothesized that this information will be used to help determine the various chemical reactions that drive the biogeochemical cycles in the oceans.

The J. Craig Venter Institute is processing all of the DNA into clone libraries for shotgun sequencing and assembly. Data are publicly available six months after being released to our laboratory for initial analysis.

In the table below, click on the HTCC name for publications related to this strain. Links in the Genus/Species column lead to the genomic sequence data.

The bioinformatics team has constructed a website containing several genome analysis tools which can be used to retrieve information from these isolates. Follow this link.
